Quick read on iPhone 13 lineup and why you should upgrade
Apple launched new iPhones on September 14th, 2021. Going with the same theme as last year, iPhone released the same line-up of 4 iPhones: iPhone 13, iPhone 13 Mini, iPhone 13 Pro and iPhone 13 Pro Max. But there are many new things that will make you want to grab one of these new iPhones.
New iPhone 13s are very similar in design compared to iPhone 12s. Apple decided to keep the flat edges (that received concerns from last year iPhones due to edges being too sharp and hard) and kept the overall profile the same. Cameras are now bigger (meaning your older iPhone cases will not fit on new iPhone 13s) with noticeable difference on the position of cameras for iPhone 13 and iPhone 13 Mini (which are now diagonally placed).
Both iPhone 13 and iPhone 13 Mini have 28 percent brighter Super Retina XDR Displays that make pictures and videos more crisp and clear. The TrueDepth camera technology on the front has been improved, and the Face ID notch has been reduced in size, taking up less total area. The iPhone 13 models gain Cinematic Mode, a feature that uses rack focus to seamlessly shift focus from one subject to another, artfully blurring the background and creating movie-quality depth effects, in addition to the standard Portrait Mode, Night Mode, Time-Lapse, and other photographic capabilities.
Larger batteries and the more efficient A15 chip have greatly enhanced battery life. The iPhone 13 mini has a battery life of up to 1.5 hours longer than the iPhone 12 mini, and the iPhone 13 has a battery life of up to 2.5 hours longer than the iPhone 12.
Overall iPhone 13 lineup is an incremental (but significant) improvement rather than radical improvement over last year generation. Its a great lineup for someone looking for better camera and battery performance. Also, don’t underestimate the fluidity of 120 hz screen.
